Fall Lawn Care Checklist
Below are some tips for fall lawn care. What you do now will affect how well your lawn fares through the winter and its health next spring.
Remove leaves: Leaves and debris will smother grass, deprive it of light, and encourage diseases, so be sure to remove them regularly, preferably with a blower.
Don’t scalp when mowing: Leave your grass a little longer in the fall and never remove more than one-third of the blade length. Those grass blades contain valuable resources to help your lawn make it through winter.
Water until there’s a freeze: Until the ground freezes, your lawn needs an inch of water per week from rainfall, watering, or a combination.
